2023 and the Post-COVID re-boot

I’m ready for new opportunities to help explain science and engineering with my expert-level skills at photography. I’ve had a life-long curiosity for learning about how this miraculous universe works.

Covid Slumber

It’s time to wake up again. I’ve been napping, overeating, and then slimming down and learning new skills for the past 2 years: Adobe Premier, color grading, captioning, and most importantly capturing great audio. I’ll post more about that soon, in the meantime enjoy this photograph of the setting sun of the Purdue University Belltower.

I made this montage from various photographs made for Purdue University, walk-in clients, and other entities. I work quickly before the decisive moment has passed.

Researchers and career milestones

I photograph frequently for Purdue University.  Recently I visited Dr. Arun Ghosh, in the department of Medicinal Chemistry.  Making portraits that tell the story of a person’s passion and career, is something I’ve loved doing since the 1980’s, when I was a student of the works of Arnold Newman and Yousuf Karsh.Dr. Arun Ghosh

Formidable Portraits -Coach Gene Keady

This is an older portrait created for editorial use in Gene Keady’s last year at Purdue. Working with formidable people, and pleasing an art director at the same time is always a challenge. This isn’t the photograph I would have made if I were untethered, but a fitting portrait of a successful and loved coach. I uncovered it from the huge archive I have while looking for another decade old image.

We are dynamic, we have to look that way.

I was retained to photograph a group of cutting edge consultants for a new initiative.  I was given the freedom to do something unexpected and engaging, the client was pleased.  I decided to post this today, because I saw many of these portraits posted elsewhere on the internet, and forgot how much I liked this group of photos.  Click image for larger view>>Purdue Foundry

Passion for Portraits

I love to make portraits, a photograph that tells a story about someone’s life, passions, or experience, a one frame biography?

These two portraits, both commissioned by Purdue University, tell different stories and did different jobs.

One to document a distinguished career, the other shows the passion and joy for a program. Both satisfied customers.
