Portraits for a highly accomplished career

Earlier this year I was honored to receive a call to make photographs for local businessman Mike Gibson, co-owner of Mulhaupt’s Inc., for his appointment to the Door and Security+Safety Professionals Board of Governors.  The portraits were used in the trade publication, and by Mike to celebrate his long and successful career as one of Lafayette’s business leaders.

Not a lot of pictures, Fine Photography.

It’s senior portrait season, take a look at my work, it’s refined! My 30 years in the field photographing, industry leaders, or your son or daughter shows!  Often, I am not anymore expensive than those with just months of ‘experience.’

Dog whisperer

I’ve hired and photographed more dog models than actual human models.  Both these pups are therapy dogs, the bulldog puppies were photographed for the breeder.Welks_16-160 Fran_Laf-216frank2lr0184frank

Fun Family Portrait Sitting

I’ve photographed this group of fine people for more than a decade.  A couple ‘charactors’ have joined the group.  Saturday sitting in the studio and about town.0119Brans0123Brans

Relationships

My work is always about the play of light, but light maters not if the spirit of the relationship is lost.  This brother and sister have been visiting the studio around New Year’s Day for a couple years now.

The Year of Sport

I studied by the side of Phil Masturzo, a great sport photographer, and the two of us studied under James Gordon; a legendary photojournalist and professor at Bowling Green State University.  Golf may not be the most exciting sport to cover; my daughter plays, so I found myself in the role of father and team photographer. Kate Schmuck, an exchange student from Munich, played some excellent golf for Lafayette Jefferson in the fall of 2016. The coach told Schmuck the team needed a birdie on one of her last hole. On the 16th hole I was ready for the moment Schmuck did exactly what Coach Hatter asked,  I made one of the best sports images of my career and one that professor Gordon and my friend Phil would be pleased with, of the low action sport of golf.

My son is a student at Butler University, I hadn’t photographed basketball since my days as a stringer for the Associated Press.  I took a turn on the baseline to keep the old skills sharpened.

Once again 2016 had me visiting dozens of laboratories to create images to help explain the story of science and engineering.
